Mr. Mattress is locally owned and operated, by Jeffery Douglas, of Andalusia, Alabama. Jeffery has been influenced by entrepreneurs the furniture, flooring, mattress industries throughout his life and dreamt of following in his family’s footsteps. His great-grandfather started a mattress factory in the early 1900’s; his grandfather opened a furniture store, Harold’s Discount Furniture, in the 1970’s, which his mother acquired in the late 80’s. Jeffery, born in 1980 began working at Harold’s as a young man, where he gained knowledge in furniture, flooring and mattress industries.
In 2011, the dream became a reality; Mr. Mattress Bedding Outlet opened its doors in Enterprise, Alabama. Jeffery now attributes the success of Mr. Mattress to many things; loyal customers, family, reputable vendors, and a host of associates and friends who work hard to maintain the company's mission. Rapid growth in the Wiregrass area produced a higher demand for the mattress industry; thus, Jeffery began expanding Mr. Mattress into Andalusia, Troy, and Dothan, AL, as well as Crestview, FL.
Our mission, which is always to provide exceptional bedding options at a competitive price and to deliver complete customer satisfaction, extends long after the sale. Our mission in action begins with educating customers on the importance of sleep. A good night’s sleep will improve one’s productivity, mind and body. Jeffery and his employees fulfill the company’s motto, “Our Dream Team excels by listening to the customer and matching a mattress to fit the customers budget and lifestyle,”each day before, during, and after business hours.
Jeffery and his wife Carey Douglas, of Elba, Alabama, have one precious daughter, two-year-old Lennon Elizabeth, named in memory of Jeffery’s late sister, Jaime Elizabeth Douglas and her love for John Lennon and the Beatles. Lennon is the official Mr. Mattress bed tester and appears in most commercials with her daddy and her mom, whose professional career as a nurse practitioner provides Jeffery with knowledge of the benefits of a good night’s sleep.
